Massachusetts driver plows car into man in racially motivated attack?

Massachusetts driver crashed his car into an Asian-American man and drove approximately 200 yards with him under the hood. This was in what the victim’s relatives claim was a racist attack.

John Sullivan, 77-year-old driver, exploded into a rage after the victim confronted John for driving too fast in a neighborhood with children. WVCB reported.

According to WCVB the victim was outside Quincy’s post office on Friday morning with his sister, her three children and their two young daughters when Sullivan came barreling down the street.

After the victim made a comment regarding his dangerous driving, Sullivan launched a racial tirade.

“He said, ‘Go back China. I’m going into the post office to return home in five minutes. Desiree Thien, Desiree’s sister, stated that if you are still here, she would kill you all.

Thien and her younger brother remained behind Sullivan’s vehicle, and they collected his information before he got out of his car.

Desiree Thien saw her brother get hit by Sullivan right in front her and her three kids.

“He rammed into me. My brother rolled onto a hood, and he clung to the hood. Thien said that my brother ran for 200 yards and then he braked so my brother fell down.” “When my brother tried to balance, he hit my other brother again, continuing with his racial slurs.”

Quincy police stated that Thien’s brother, Thien, was thrown into a ditch of 10 to 15 feet at a construction site. Sullivan fled from the scene.

A witness was there to follow Sullivan and provide updates on his whereabouts. The information was then relayed back to Braintree police, where Sullivan was later arrested.

Thien said, “He must know that not everybody can be picked on” and that intimidation will not silence everyone.

Thien and her relatives were allegedly told by Sullivan that they should “go back to China” and that Sullivan would kill them.

According to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office he pleaded guilty to the charges at his arraignment Friday in Quincy District Court.

He is being held indefinitely without bail until Wednesday’s dangerousness hearing.
