Moscow (Russia), December 10, (ANI): Russian President Vladimir Putin will likely participate in the G20 Summit at New Delhi in September 2023. This is according to Russia’s G20 (Sherpa), Svetlana Lukash. “I hope that [Russia’s President] will attend the G20 Summit. This is his decision. Now that the next summit is one-year away, I can’t answer such a question. Lukash stated that he sees it as there are many chances for this. He said that the G20 summit in New Delhi was set for September 9-10, 2023, according to Indian organizers.
On December 1, India took over from Indonesia the G20 presidency. Putin was absent from the G20 Summit in Indonesia. India plans to host about 200 events in India during its G20 presidency.
Lukash stated that she was hopeful that the Russian President would attend the Summit next years, but it is up to him take the final call. “I hope we won’t miss any event, be it a meeting or seminar or conference. Russia should participate in all events to show its position, to express its views and to learn from the best practices of other countries,” Lukash was quoted by TASS as saying. The first G20 Sherpa meeting held under India’s Presidency began in Udaipur December 5, where Lukash stated that digital transformation and innovation are key drivers for growth and development. She added, “Hence proposed #G20India as crosscutting topics at all G20 working tracks.”
At the G20 Sherpa meeting in Udaipur Russian G20 Sherpa Svetlana Lukash praised India and Indian Sherpa Amitabh Kant, stating that ‘Women-led Development’ was one of the key priorities.
Lukash took to Twitter to say, “Grateful for #G20India & @amitabhk87 to have made ‘Women led development’ one of the top priorities of G20.” Positive transformations are catalysed by women!Lukash tweeted, “So inspired meeting with highly-professional and charming experts from #G20India Team!” G20 will succeed because of their creative minds and committed hearts!
The G20, or Group of 20, is an intergovernmental forum of major developed and emerging economies around the globe. In the presence of PM Modi, Indonesia handed over the G20 presidency last month to India. (ANI)
