ALMATY. KAZINFORM Almaty will host FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships from December 25-30. In Kazakhstan, Grandmasters representing 50 countries will fight for the titles. Kazinform reports that $1mln will be awarded as the prize money for the event.
Baluan Sholak Sport Palace will host the event. Open tournament: 176 players will participate, including 98 women.
All players rated at or above 2550 on any of the twelve FIDE rating list 2022 (Standard Rapid or Blitz) are eligible to take part in the championship.
