The pope spoke as if Jesus said that “one should not put too much trust in earthly reality, which passes.” They are wise words …”
He claimed that Jesus wanted to teach us perseverance.
Francis explained that perseverance means a high degree in strictness. Jesus however did not mean to be rigid with his own standards.
He said that Jesus asked us to be “strict, uncompromising, persistent, determined in what he holds dear, and in all that matters”.
He stated, “Because, the true value of what matters, often does not coincide what attracts our attention.” “We place high value on our achievements, our religious and civic traditions, and sacred and social symbols. They are not important, but they will pass.”
According to the pope Jesus asked us to put our faith in his word, love and goodness.
